What is CAT exam?
CAT Exam is the acronym for the Common Admission Test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission into their MBA/PGDM programs. The test is accepted as part of their admission process by all the 20 IIMs as well as some other top business schools in India like FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon among others.
When is CAT exam conducted ?
CAT exam is an aptitude test that examines students in three important areas viz. Proficiency in English language, Ability to Interpret and Analyze Data, and Ability to solve high school level Math problems. Accordingly, the test is divided into three sections: the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and the Quantitative Ability (QA) sections.
Because of the sheer number of B-schools accepting CAT score including most of the premier B-schools, CAT becomes the most important test to prepare for and succeed in for an MBA aspirant.

CAT Scoring System
The candidate is scored separately on each section as well as for the entire CAT test. The score achieved, as per the marking system in the table above, is considered as the raw score of the candidate.
