Hriday came to me after scoring 595 on a previous GMAT attempt. He had worked with other private tutors without meaningful improvement and was, by his own admission, sceptical when he enrolled — and initially for Verbal coaching only, not the full program.

During the Performance Diagnostic, I identified something specific: a deeply ingrained word-skipping habit during reading. Not carelessness — a processing pattern that caused him to lose the contextual thread of complex passages automatically, below the level of conscious attention. This was causing systematic misinterpretation across both Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning, and it had gone undiagnosed by every previous tutor because it happened invisibly.

We built targeted reading strategies around this pattern — structured approaches to maintaining sentence meaning and argumentative context throughout a passage. Alongside this, we identified and addressed foundational gaps in Critical Reasoning that had never been isolated before. His Verbal score moved significantly.

The improvement gave Hriday confidence to bring Quant and Data Insights into our work. We deconstructed multiple mock exams parameter by parameter. The result: an 80-point improvement from 595 to 675 on GMAT Focus Edition.

What this case showed precisely was the core principle of my methodology: the problem was never what it appeared to be on the surface. A different diagnosis produced a different intervention. A different intervention produced the result that two previous tutors could not.
